Kim Fields plays great harmonica and his book is my bible I have had the privilege of meeting Kim Fields twice already and hope to meet him again. He is a most gracious man and an exceptional player. He has written a book, my bible, 'Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers'©.

I bought his first edition and now there is a second one out in print. The book is so full of tips that I recommend this book to any musician who would like an insite into the harp.

Little Walter - The GREATEST Harmonica player Little Walter The Greatest Harmonica Player and the greatest gift the Blues could have!     *** BARBIE j ***
Little Walter is considered by many the king of blues harmonica and was probably the first to amplify the instrument. He was the first musician of any kind to purposely use electronic distortion (later Jimi Hendrix would use distortion to change rock'n'roll forever). Little Walter could make his harp sound like a tenor sax. He defined the sound known as Chicago blues harp. As a singer, composer and harmonica genius, Little Walter was arguably the best blues artist produced by the post war Chicago blues movement. pics courtesy of All Music Guide to the Blues
Little Walter - The GREATEST gift the Blues could have Between 1952 and 1968, Walter recorded approximately 100 titles for Chess, of which slightly more than half were issued on record. From his very first to his very last record, Little Walter was unique. His place in history is assured for his being one of the first musicians to try electrically amplified blues. No had thought to hold a microphone up to a harp before but it was a lesson no one would ever forget. Little Walter died in 1968 after sustaining head injuries in a street fight.          written by Madison Deniro

Buddy Guy - he will always be 'my Guy' Buddy Guy has always been one of my favorite blues players. Every time I have heard him play live he WAILS! Makes me want to jump out of my seat and play harp with him.

.... "I must have been put here for a reason. Ain't nobody ever taught me nothing. There wasn't nobody to teach me nothing. So my talent got to be God-gifted, 99 1/2 percent. The rest of the stuff I watched, looked and learned"---Buddy Guy

Stevie Ray Vaughn - we'll all miss him Stevie Ray Vaughn was taken from the music world prematurely in a helicopter crash in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin after his concert on August 27, 1992. Shortly before the release of Family Style, Vaughan performed with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, and brother Jimmie at an East Troy, Wisconsin, blues concert. Eager to get to Chicago, Vaughan hopped onto the helicopter immediately after the show. In dense fog, the copter crashed, killing everyone aboard. Vaughan was thirty-five years old.                                                              Wish I could have seen him. I miss him, too. ---Barbie j                                                       BACK to TOP   back to My Story

Z. Z. TOP - 3 BOYS from Texas who wail the BLUES Z. Z. Top topped the music charts back in the 'Seventies". I have had the immense pleasure of meeting those Texan Boys, back stage, at their concerts on more than one occasion. They have been a long time inspiration for me.

John Németh - he blows the back off his harp, WOW! I First saw John Németh at the Inland Empire Blues Society 'Harp Attack". When I heard him play, I was WOWED. I heard him steal my licks (ha ha). He blows with all his heart and lungs and possibly was the best part of the show, for me. Don't get me wrong, the other harpists were also very good.

I liked his playing so much I bought his cd, "The Best Way to Scratch" © and I'm glad I did. John Nemeth has put out a few CDs They're excellent. He also has his gigs on his page. Go see him, you'll be happy you did.
